Samsun tobacco leaves are small in size, stalks are wide leaf form is similar to anchusa. The tissues of tobacco are thin, the veins are very delicate, the hystroscopy is high, the leaf durability is good. Their color is light red. Smoking taste is sweet, and the odor is light and spicy. Especially in this origin, the aroma of the Sıtmasuyu variety is very strong.

Nicotine content of Samsun tobacco is between 1.25-1.40%. The leaves of the bafra tobacco are small and partly medium in size, the petiola part is narrow, and the form is heart shaped. Their tissues are thin, elastic and durable. They are thin veined. Leaf surfaces are small, leaf edges are wavy.

The leaf color changes between red and dark red, the appearance is bright. Samsun have a specific color feature which is that the leaves which are close to the root are darker than the upper leaves. Tobacco which has these characteristics is also called ”clove root.” This tobacco has a high smoking yield and very good burning abilities. The harmonious combination of sweetness and odor brings a pleasant and good quality smoking. Blending role of these type of tobacco is as important as Samsun tobacco. The nicotine content of Samsun origin tobacco is around 0.8-1.2%. The production areas of these tobacco are quite wavy and the soils mainly consist of brown podzolic forest soils. The upper layer consists of dark gray, brown, clay-rich and limestone-containing soil. Soil depth does not exceed 7-15 cm. The average temperature of the vegetation period is 21.4 degrees and the volume of rainfall is 250 mm. The relative humidity of the air is 76%.
